TNTESOL, the affiliate from the state of Tennessee, was established in 1978 as a nonprofit organization, organized exclusively for educational purposes. We have a Board of Directors, with elected and appointed positions, that meets quarterly.
Our current membership consists of 753 active members. Our main event is our Annual Conference and Business Meeting, held in the spring. The 2014 conference celebrated from March 15-19 in Nashville, gathered more than 600 ESL professionals from Tennessee as well as bordering states.
TNTESOL offers grants and awards to its membership: travel grants, TN Educator of the Year, Gundi Ressin Scholarship, and Charles Gillon Award.
With our quarterly newsletter, our annual journal, and our website, TNTESOL's goal is to disseminate information quickly to our members and to provide up-to-date resources for immediate use.
TNTESOL also provides a platform with forums, resource links, and Q&As about the recently adopted WIDA standards by the Tennessee Department of Education.
