TESOL Standing Committees

Overview

TESOL has 17 standing committees that help the TESOL Board of Directors implement various aspects of the strategic plan and other association business. Ten committees are staffed by volunteer TESOL members and seven are staffed by board members.

Every TESOL standing committee has a group page in the TESOL Community. In addition, every committee staffed by member volunteers has a staff liaison and a board liaison. The staff liaison assists with administrative duties and the board liaison oversees communication between the committee and the board of directors.

With the exception of the Awards Committee, all voting committee members serve for three years, renewable annually. Members of the Awards Committee serve for two years.

Call for Volunteers

Annually at the end of August, TESOL publishes a call for committee members to replace members who have finished their terms of service. Volunteers are approved by the TESOL president-elect in consultation with the committee's leadership. Terms of service vary in length, but all new committee members begin their service at the annual TESOL convention. For more information on committees, please visit the individual committee pages.

Additional information about serving serving on a TESOL standing committee is available on the 2013-2014 Call for Volunteers. To find other ways to get involved, please visit TESOL's volunteer page.
