TESOL Member Resolution on Tuition Fee Surcharge to International Students (1988)

Whereas the presence of international students enhances and expands the educational and cultural environment for all student at educational institutions; and

Whereas international students use their financial resources to generate funds for the local and national economies; and

Whereas the philosophy supporting the concepts of international education and international student exchange is based on building and promoting mutual understanding and friendship among peoples, countries, and governments;

Be It Resolved that TESOL oppose addition of a tuition fee surcharge applicable only to international students; and

Be It Further Resolved that , upon the request of TESOL members, the Executive Director of TESOL send copies of this resolution to appropriate administrators and officers in agencies, institutions, and programs that are connected with the education of international students.
