Data-Driven Discussions: Using English Language Proficiency Data More Effectively (B-5)

Overview

This workshop will allow participants to work more closely with student performance data, with the goal of presenting and sharing information with stakeholders. Collecting student performance data is not effective if the results are not used in a meaningful way. Analyzing student performance data to engage colleagues in discussion to further support student progress is the primary objective of this workshop.

What Will I Learn?

In this workshop, participants will

  • evaluate various forms of student performance data
  • discuss how data is currently used in their teaching context
  • analyze and interpret various forms of data
  • frame conversations around the use of data to inform teaching practices and student performance
  • create and share plans to facilitate future data discussions with stakeholders

About the Workshop Leader

Ayanna Cooper is an independent educational consultant who specializes in English language teaching and learning. Dr. Cooper facilitates professional development in various states and teaches graduate-level TESOL courses. She is serving a second term on the TESOL Professional Development Standing Committee and is a past president of Georgia TESOL.
