More About This Workshop

Educators are often more likely to think of themselves as instructors and learners than as leaders; however, educators can be leaders in their classrooms, with their colleagues, in their departments, in their institutions, and in their professional associations. In this workshop, the participants explore ways in which they are already leaders and ways in which they can add to their leadership skills. They work on assembling a plan for leadership in their future. The focus is on leadership in TESOL.

What Will I Learn?

  • Participants will be able to find opportunities for leadership in TESOL.
  • Participants will continue to develop the leadership plan that they worked on in this workshop.

More About the LDCP

TESOL offers Leadership Development Certificate Program (LDCP) workshops at the TESOL convention, covering a wide variety of key leadership themes and skills, from advocacy and governance to strategic planning and supervision. Developed by the TESOL board of directors, the LDCP is open to all TESOL members.

This year TESOL offers two online LDCP workshops, which are required for the program: "About TESOL" and "Perspectives on Leadership for TESOL." These workshops will also be offered in-person at the 2013 TESOL Convention in Dallas, Texas. The registration fee for the LDCP at the convention is $100.

Participants who complete both online workshops below will not have to take the courses again or pay registration fee to continue. Global and student members will need to pay a fee of $100 to complete the LDCP.
