More About This Course

This course enables teachers to install and manage their own course management system (CMS). In this course, participants install and customize a free, open source CMS program, such as Moodle. The course emphasizes sound systems management practices. A prior understanding of Web site/server management will be helpful, but is not required.  Students will need to provide their own Web hosting, which may involve a slight expense.

  • Install the CMS on a Web server on the Internet
  • Create a sample course

  • Be enabled to become independent administrators of their very own CMS on the Internet

About the Instructor

Jeff Nelson has taught English on three continents and currently works at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington, USA. He holds an MA in TESL and is a Red Hat Linux Certified Engineer. In his spare time he volunteers for the TESOL’s CALL Interest Section and for an educational foundation in Colombia.
