More About This Course

In this course, participants explore mostly free online internet tools for use with any level of ESL. Many of the tools can enhance traditional face-to-face or online classes. Tools covered include online game makers, survey makers, word game makers, and online web publishing. At the end of the class, participants develop a project developing a web page using at least one of the tools.

Course-specific requirements: Microsoft Word 97 or higher. Note: not all online tools will work on Macintosh machines.

What Will I Learn?

  • Create a website and be able to edit it
  • Develop a game, survey, interactive map, slide show or pod cast that develops student interactivity post it on website
  • Create a comprehensive lesson combining the above bullets to post on website.

About the Instructor

Susan Gaer is an associate professor of ESL and technology trainer for Santa Ana College in California, USA. She has been teaching the adult ESL literacy population since 1978 and started integrating computers into her classes in 1994. In 2000 she won the American Association of Community Colleges award for technology integration for at risk populations.
