The TESOL Symposium on Sustainable Teacher Development Through Innovative Teaching and Research attracted 425 attendees from across China and a number of countries worldwide. TESOL International Association (TESOL) partnered with Beijing Normal University (BNU) in organizing the successful event, which took place July 8-9, 2011, at BNU.

Overview
China, like many other countries, is experiencing rapid economic growth along with an increasing demand for English language teaching (ELT). To meet students' needs requires effective teacher development , achieved through high-quality, sustainable ELT programs, policies, and practices. In this symposium, participants will learn in-depth about key issues in ELT language policy and teacher development, and how to apply the latest ELT research and innovative practice in China today.
This symposium is organized by TESOL International Association (TESOL) in partnership with the School of Foreign Languages and Literature of Beijing Normal University.
