TESOL International Association
is pleased to introduce the TESOL Affiliate Network. The association has more than 100 affiliates, creating a network of more than 45,000 English language teaching professionals. The newly released Affiliate Network Policy
recognizes the tremendous potential for collaboration within that diverse network and creates the Affiliate Network Professional Council
to support the network’s efforts.
The Affiliate Network Policy was developed as part of the governance restructuring initiative that launched in 2014 as a result of the final report from the Governance Review Task Force. The new policy is designed to emphasize the value TESOL places on relationships and partnerships that connect the global TESOL community. TESOL’s relationship with the associations in the Affiliate Network will be guided by four core principles: respect, significance, flexibility, and mutuality.
“We are very excited about the opportunities and possibilities under this new framework and hope that the new structure will allow for the voices of many affiliated associations to be heard,” says TESOL President Ester de Jong. “We look forward to continuing our existing relations and building new partnerships.”
De Jong and TESOL Executive Director Christopher Powers will host an online town hall meeting on Wednesday, 15 November at 9:00 am ET to discuss the potential for collaborations with the affiliate network. For information on accessing the town hall, please contact TESOL Affiliates
