ARKTESOL Hosts Statewide Conference in October, 2009
Lynn Ramage Schaefer, Communications Coordinator ARKTESOL
Arkansas’s TESOL affiliate, ARKTESOL, held its annual conference on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at the Hilton Little Rock Metro Center. Popular ESL author Keith Folse was the plenary speaker. Topics concerned intercultural communication, legal issues, program administration, and parental involvement. The theme of the conference was “Sustainable Learning,” reflecting ARKTESOL’s recent commitment to “go green.” Starting this year, ARKTESOL’s newsletter is being published on its Web site (arktesol.org) instead of on paper and sent to members via e-mail rather than via the post office. The organization is also considering the use of lightweight supermarket-style bags at its conference so that members can reuse them at the grocery store after the conference.
