In mid-February,
TESOL International Association invited a group of English language teachers, researchers, district administrators, and policy makers to discuss the role of the ESL teacher in implementing the
Common Core State Standards. The meeting was convened at the TESOL office in Alexandria, Virginia. Rosa Aronson, TESOL’s executive director, moderated the event, with help from John Segota, TESOL’s associate executive director for public policy and professional relations and Diane Staehr Fenner,
TESOL/NCATE program coordinator.
