Rights and Permissions

To republish or duplicate materials or other data created or copyrighted by TESOL for any nonpersonal purpose (including for academic course packs), you must obtain permission.

The TESOL permissions program is administered by Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). Any time you borrow more than 150 consecutive words from a TESOL publication, you need to contact CCC via their Web site, www.copyright.com. CCC will advise you of the fee when they respond to your request.

TESOL will not grant permission to

    • republish an article from TESOL Journal, TESOL Quarterly, TESOL Connections, or Essential Teacher in another serial publication devoted to language teaching and learning or linguistics; this prohibition extends to affiliate and interest section newsletters.
    • duplicate entire books, journals, or videos.
    • repost articles or chapters to a website; this includes open-access institutional repositories.
