TESOL’s Electronic Village
Taming the Technology Tangle
The Electronic Village
The Electronic Village (EV), located in the Boston Convention Center and hosted by the Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Interest Section, is a great place to explore computer-based resources for language teaching and learning in the classroom and online. Highlights include the latest in multimedia learning, access to Internet-based resources for language instruction, and presentations on handheld hardware devices. Come and see demonstrations by teachers, CALL authors, Web page designers, and curriculum specialists. Consult the Program Book for a complete listing of all EV events.
EV Fair and EV Fair Classics
Explore new ways to use CALL in your classroom. Discover how your colleagues use the Web, e-mail, online conferencing, and computer-based resources. Presenters, some new to CALL and some practiced professionals, are located at stations around the EV and will focus on a variety of relevant interest section materials. Ask questions and get hands-on experience.
EV Hardware Fair
Do you have equipment that you don’t know how to use in the classroom? Then the EV Hardware Fair is the place to go. Presenters are located at stations around the EV, demonstrating use of hand-held devices, cameras, portable technologies, smartboards, clickers, ELMOs, MP3 players, cell phones, and other hardware. Come and find out how to use these tools educationally.
Developers’ Showcase
See original creations by teachers and researchers. The event features innovative software designed for students to improve their language skills. The Developers’ Showcase is noncommercial in nature and is intended to allow the software authors an opportunity to demonstrate their work and interact with others in the TESOL community.
Technology Showcase
Discover the latest ideas in applied technology for ESOL educational settings in the CALL-IS academic and InterSection sessions. Also featured are technology-enriched sessions from other interest sections sponsored by the CALL-IS.
