What’s New
K–12 Dream Day Preconvention Workshop
This inaugural event is geared to ESL/EFL and mainstream teachers as well as program administrators and principals. The workshop features keynotes by Joan Wink and Jim Cummins, and five different topic strands to choose from.
Luminary Sessions
Known in years past as either Invited Speaker sessions or Spotlights, Luminary sessions highlight important topics within TESOL and feature some of the most well-known and respected experts in the field. Luminary sessions are noted in the Advance Program with a light bulb icon.
Tea With TESOL’s Best
By popular demand, the Breakfast With TESOL’s Best format has been expanded to include afternoon sessions. Refresh for the rest of the afternoon with a light snack, and gather with a small, casual group of colleagues to discuss a current topic of interest with a leading TESOL expert.
TESOL Is Going Green
In its ongoing effort to reduce the convention’s carbon footprint, TESOL has instituted the following green initiatives to the convention:
- This year the Advance Program is only distributed electronically and online to save on paper.
- T-passes (mass transit) will be made available to attendees instead of shuttle buses.
- The aisle carpet in the exhibit hall is made from recycled materials.
- Water coolers rather than bottled water will be available in all meeting rooms.
- Earth-friendly and recyclable cotton tote bags will be provided instead of the heavier canvas used in the past.
Take the “T” to the Boston TESOL Party
As part of TESOL’s efforts to reduce the convention’s carbon footprint, in lieu of shuttle buses TESOL will provide complimentary T-passes to attendees staying in one of the six hotels located downtown or in the financial district. The T-pass allows attendees to use the mass transit, or “T,” to get from their hotels to the convention center. The passes are good for the entire convention and can be used before and after convention hours.
Childcare at TESOL
Parents in a Pinch, a well-known childcare provider in the Boston area, will provide childcare upon request to individual families while they are at the convention. The cost is $15 per hour with a 4-hour minimum. For more information or to make childcare arrangements, click here.
