One Generation 1.5 Learner’s Academic Writing Perceptions, Difficulties, and Practices
As a result of U.S. school experience, Generation 1.5 learners possess familiarity with the writing process approach and academic essay organization. However, at the university, many Generation 1.5 learners struggle with academic writing. The following case study examines some of the academic writing perceptions, difficulties, and practices of a first-year undergraduate Generation 1.5 learner.

Exercising the Art of Classical Rhetoric in L2 Writing
This study investigated how classical rhetoric may foster L2 writing development in a group of 24 two-year college students majoring in English in Taiwan. Students’ preliminary drafts and revised drafts were collected and compared. The results showed that studying rhetorical devices has a desirable effect on student writing and attitude.

This article summarizes June’s Symposium on Second Language Writing, which opened with an international Graduate Student Conference featuring presentations from over 50 student researchers.
