Degree Offered: MA in TESOL.

Length of Program: 4 semesters. Students may be full-time or part-time and must begin the program at the beginning of the fall semester.

Program Requirements: 36 credits. Competence in a language other than English is required for all students. A thesis is not required; a research paper is required for 3 credit hours. Neither practice teaching nor a comprehensive examination is required.

Admission Requirements: The university requires an undergraduate GPA of 3.0, a two-page autobiography including statement of academic purpose, GRE scores, an example of scholarly writing and 3 letters of recommendation. Nonnative speakers of English must have a TOEFL score of 550.

Tuition, Fees, and Aid: For in-state students, US$1,796 per 6 hours; for out-of-state students, US $4,424 per 6 hours. The university fellowships and departmental assistantships (either research or teaching) are available for some students.

General: Our program offers students opportunities to take both TESOL and linguistics courses with a diverse community of students in small classes. Students also have the opportunity to work as graduate teaching assistants in the Intensive English Institute.      None of this program is available via distance learning.
     The university has an intensive English language program for nonnative speakers.
