General: Our program is distinct because students get a foundation in linguistics while developing TESL theory and practice. Our ties with the campus American English Institute allows students to observe ESL classes without having to travel off campus. Our department offers critical languages (Chinese, Japanese, Persian and others are planned). These classes are of special interest to students who want to teach EFL and who need some foreign language skills to survive in their host country.
None of this program is available via distance learning.
The university has an intensive English language program for nonnative speakers, American English Institute.
