Degree Offered: MA in education, TESOL option.
Length of Program: 4 quarters. Students may be full-time or part-time and may begin the program at the beginning of the fall, winter or spring semester.
Program Requirements: 48 credits. Competence in a language other than English is not required. Either 80 hours of fieldwork or a research class is required. Either a thesis or a comprehensive exam is required.

Admission Requirements: Expository Writing or equivalent is required as an entrance writing requirement. It may be taken after matriculation, or the Writing Requirement Exemption Exam may be taken. Computer-Assisted Language Learning is a 4-unit prerequisite. It may be taken after matriculation. Nonnative speakers of English must have a TOEFL score of 550 (CBT 213).
Tuition, Fees, and Aid: For in-state students, US$1,225 for 6 or more units per quarter; for out-of-state students, US$1,225 for 6 or more units per quarter plus US$226 per unit. Fees are admission fee, $55; other fees are included. Research assistantships and international student scholarships are available.
General: Because we are housed in a College of Education, we can combine the master's degree program with a California teaching credential for an additional 3 quarters of training. We specialize in K-12 schooling, plus adult, but graduates have attained prestigious positions in colleges and universities outside the United States. We offer a distance learning MA in Seoul; a summer residency in California is necessary. In addition, we have a special academic track designed for training English-as-a-foreign-language elementary teachers.
