Degree Offered: MA in English with concentration in TESOL.

Length of Program: 4 quarters. Students may be full-time or part-time and may begin the program at the beginning of the fall or spring semester.

Program Requirements: 35 semester credits. Competence in a language other than English is required for native speakers of English. 10 hours of observation and 15 hours of practice teaching are required. Either a portfolio or a thesis is required. A comprehensive examination is not required.

Courses Offered: (*required) *Methods of EFL/EFL; *Theories of Second Language Acquisition; *Phonology/Morphology for ESL/EFL teachers; *Syntax for ESL/EFL Teachers; *Practicum; *Internship; Language Assessment ESP/EST; Development of L2 literacy; Vocabulary Development in L2; Research Methods; Sociolinguistics; Psycholinguistics; Discourse Analysis; Genre Analysis.

Admission Requirements: The university requires a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.  Nonnative speakers of English must have a TOEFL score of 550 (CBT 213).

Tuition, Fees, and Aid: For in-state students, US$4,562 per academic year; for out-of-state students, US$15,524 per academic year. Fees are application fee; lab fee. Teaching assistantships through the English Department and Intensive English Program and a range of scholarships are available.

General: We have the PCMI Option. A joint MA degree with the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures is available.
     None of this program is available via distance learning.
     The institution has an intensive English language program for nonnative speakers of English.
