General: We have two closely intertwined programs: TESOL and Applied Linguistics (AL). In each of them, we teach both research and theory and also methodology and practice. In AL, more focus is on research and theory, and in TESOL, more focus is on pedagogy and practice. In the TESOL Program, methods, materials, skills, observation, and teacher supervision are emphasized.  The program can lead to a state teaching credential in TESOL. Students are encouraged to make use of the diverse educational sites in the New York area for teaching and research.
International opportunities are provided through the college's MA TESOL program in Tokyo, Japan.
None of this program is available via distance learning.
The institution has an intensive English language teaching program for nonnative speakers of English in the New York City community.
