Degree Offered: MA in education with a concentration in TESOL of bilingual education.
Length of Program: MA four semesters; Certification 3-4 years depending upon previous coursework. Students may be full-time or part-time and may begin the program at the beginning of the fall, spring or summer semester.
Program Requirements: MA, 33 credits; Initial Educator Certification, 60-69 credits. 14 weeks of practice teaching (2 placements, elementary and secondary) is required. Candidates for a master's degree may select either comprehensives or a thesis (3 credits).
Courses Offered: (*required) *Principles of Bilingual Education; *Methods and Materials for Second Language Teaching; *Teaching and Learning within Multicultural Contexts of Education; *Testing and Assessment in Foreign Language, ESL, and Bilingual Programs; electives: four electives are selected from 13 additional courses.

Admission Requirements: Those who wish to be certified in bilingual education or add it as an endorsement must demonstrate proficiency in English and the language of the bilingual program. The reading and writing components of Praxis 1 must be successfully completed to demonstrate proficiency in English. The Oral Proficiency Interview of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), in a non-English language of the bilingual program, must be passed at the Intermediate High level or higher to demonstrate proficiency. Non-native English speakers must have a TOEFL score of 550 (CBT 213).
Tuition, Fees, and Aid: All students, US$425 per credit hour. Fees are admission fee, US$50.00; semester registration, US$25. Graduate assistantships are available.
General: Ten of the eleven courses taken for the master's degree count towards certification. SL required and elective courses also count for cross endorsements in either or both TESOL and Bilingual Education. A CAS degree is available for experienced teachers who seek a cross endorsement. Students in the program have applied for Fulbright scholarships.
An online course every other semester is available.
