Degree Offered: M.Ed in ESOL Education

Length of Program: minimum 3 semesters or 1 calendar year.  Students may be full-time or part-time and may begin their study at the beginning of any semester. 

Program Requirements: 30 semester hours. Competence in a language other than English is not required for native speakers of English. 300 clock hours of internship related to ESOL professiional developemnt. A comprehensive examination is required for the M.Ed.

Courses Offered: *(required) *Teaching ESOL in Pre-K-12; *Issues in ESOL Education; *Assessment in ESOL Education; *Applied Linguistics in Second Language Acquisition; *Modern English Grammars; *ESOL Internship; Technology and Media in ESOL Education.

Admission Requirements: Candidates must be certified at the Class B level (or equivalent) in any K-12 subject to gain admittance to the program. Admission to the graduate school is also required. International students must have a TOEFL score of 550.

Tuition, Fees, and Aid: For in-state students, US$2,115 per semester; for out-of-state students, US$6,345 per semester. Fees are US$75. All distance students pay approximately $860 per 3-credit course no matter if they are domestic or international status. Assistantships, scholarships, grants, and loans are available.

General: The M.Ed in ESOL education has a distinctly Pre-K-12 focus, and its primary goal is the certification of public school ESOL educators. This program leads to a state credential in TESOL.   
     The university has an intensive English language program for nonnative speakers.
