The Job MarketPlace (JMP) is a unique career fair for ESL/EFL professionals held in conjunction with TESOL's annual convention. Job seekers should not miss this important and effective career networking event.

How does JMP work?
JMP has two components: an online job posting/interview scheduling module run through TESOL's online Career Center and an onsite location at the annual TESOL convention. Job seekers may search job postings and schedule interviews online before the TESOL convention and then interview with recruiters onsite.

How should I prepare for JMP before the convention?

  • Create an account on TESOL's online Career Center
  • Indicate that you will be attending JMP by selecting the Job MarketPlace checkbox on your My Account page
  • Upload your resume to TESOL's online Career Center (you may also do this onsite by bringing a flash drive, disk, or CD)
  • Search for JMP job listings on the Career Center's Web site (to view only JMP listings, select 'advanced search' and check the JMP checkbox)
  • Through the online Career Center, submit your resume to potential employers and schedule interviews

What should I expect onsite at JMP?
Onsite there will be two main areas: interview booths and computer stations. 

  • The largest area is occupied by private interview booths. Job seekers who scheduled interviews in advance should go to the waiting area of the Job MarketPlace at least ten minutes prior to their interview time. The recruiter will meet the job seeker in the waiting area and escort the job seeker to a private interview booth.
  • The computer stations will be available for job seekers to find job listings, submit resumes, schedule interviews, and check messages through TESOL's online Career Center. Job seekers are encouraged to schedule as many interviews as possible prior to the convention.

What should I bring?

When attending JMP, TESOL recommends that you bring:

  1. copies of your academic transcripts
  2. letters of recommendation or contact information for references
  3. a pen and notebook to write down information about the jobs and your questions for the recruiters 
  4. a calculator to calculate salaries, benefits, and currency conversions
  5. a flash drive or CD of your resume

Do I need to register for the convention to attend JMP?

The Job MarketPlace is part of the TESOL convention and is open only to paid, registered convention attendees.  If you have scheduled an interview with a Job MarketPlace employer in advance of the event, please be aware that you will still need to register for the TESOL convention in order to enter the hall where the interview booths are located. 

All paid, registered convention attendees can enter the Job MarketPlace by showing their convention badges.  Once you have registered for the convention, you may come and go from the Job MarketPlace at your leisure.

How can I get more information about who will be recruiting?

All job postings will be on TESOL's Career Center Web site (http://careers.tesol.org) and will be marked with the Job MarketPlace logo. Additionally, a special edition of the Placement E-Bulletin (PEB) with Job MarketPlace listings will e-mailed to PEB subscribers two weeks before the convention.
