Resource Detail

Resource Title: Linking ESP Needs Assessment with Research
Resource Type: Presentation / Multimedia Resource
Author(s): Margaret van Naerssen
Audience: ESOL teachers / ELT educators
Abstract: Very frequently there’s a “disconnect” between researchers in Professional Communications and those delivering English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs. The presenter, using a research study, and an ESP project, shows how researchers and ESP practitioners can and need to connect. These materials can be used in workshops, a course module, or a single professional development effort to assist in introducing students/ practitioners to potential of research and to encourage researchers to collaborate in doing real-world needs assessments.
