Call for Volunteers: Convention Program Strand Coordinators, 2018–2020

Serve as a Convention Program Strand Coordinator

The Conferences Professional Council is currently seeking 12 strand coordinators and 16 assistant strand coordinators to work on the 2019 and 2020 convention programs. Coordinators will be appointed for two years, beginning in April 2018. To be eligible, you must be a member of TESOL International Association in good standing.

About the Coordinators

Strand coordinators and assistant strand coordinators work in close collaboration with the TESOL Conference Services staff, the Conferences Professional Council, and TESOL Interest Section chairs, and play an instrumental role in developing a vibrant convention program that responds to changing trends in the field.

  • Demonstrated expertise within strand content areas
  • Experience with planning local, regional, or international conferences
  • Experience with reviewing conference proposals
  • Experience with TESOL convention and conferences


  • be available throughout the June–September adjudication process
  • attend the annual convention to evaluate session quality and presenters
  • participate in 3–4 conference calls per year
  • respond to emails
  • be active on council community platform and other collaboration sites like Google Docs
Time commitment averages 8–10 hours per month, with more time needed during adjudication process. Additional time required will vary with strand assignment and number of proposals the strand receives.
