TESOL Co-Signs Letter Calling on President-Elect to Denounce Hate-Fueled Acts

by David Cutler | 11/21/2016
TESOL International Association has cosigned a letter with more than 100 other organizations, asking that President-Elect Trump denounce the acts of vandalism, harassment, and violence that have occurred since he won the election. Authored by the American Federation of Teachers and the Southern Poverty Law Center, the letter describes the troubling events that have occurred at schools and universities across the nation, including the harassment of Muslim students, male students intimidating female peers, and swastikas painted on classroom doors. As a leader in the field of English language learning and teaching around the world, TESOL stands with its peer organizations in condemning these offensive actions. They have no place in our communities, schools, or public discourse.
