TESOL Quarterly Impact Factor Takes a Leap!

by Barry Pilson | 06/23/2017
The 2016 Journal Citation Report, which includes the impact factor and ISI subject category rankings for all indexed titles, was released last week by Thomson Reuters.

TESOL Quarterly (TQ), a leading journal in the field of English language teaching and learning, saw its two-year impact factor rise from 1.513 for 2015 to 2.056 for 2016. The five-year impact factor went from 1.947 in 2015 to 2.704 in 2016.

The rise in impact factor moved TQ to higher overall journal rankings. TQ is now 34/235 in education and educational research journals and 14/180 in linguistics. The impact factor (IF) is a measure of the frequency with which the average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year. The Journal Citation Report publishes the impact factor and rankings yearly.

Brian Paltridge and Ahmar Mahboob, co-editors of TQ, were pleased with the new rankings. “We are delighted with the increase in TESOL Quarterly’s impact factor and thank the authors and the reviewers for their contributions to the journal’s success.”

In addition to the co-editors, TESOL Quarterly is supported by the following section editors:
