TESOL China Assembly Welcomes Over 2,500 Attendees to Hangzhou

by David Cutler | 07/26/2019
Beginning today and running through 28 July 2019, TESOL International Association is co-hosting the 2019 TESOL China Assembly in Hangzhou, China along with China Daily, Shanghai International Studies University, and the Hangzhou Municipal Government. The TESOL International Association China Assembly is a high-level international English language teaching (ELT) event that promotes scholarship and cross-cultural understanding among English educators in China and enhances dialogue between China's ELT professionals and their peers from around the world.

This year’s Assembly brings over 2,500 attendees from 20 countries and every Chinese province to the Hangzhou International Expo Center. Attendees have the opportunity to choose from over 160 different sessions, including keynotes from TESOL Past Presidents Jodi Crandall and Donald Freeman, and TESOL Board of Directors member Lawrence Jun Zhang. To kick off the event today, TESOL President-Elect Deborah Short provided opening remarks and TESOL Executive Director Christopher Powers introduced the keynote addresses from Rod Ellis and Peter Skehan.

This three-day event offers attendees numerous opportunities to interact with leading experts in the field and network with peers. The Assembly also provides attendees with practical, research-based ideas, strategies, and tools to facilitate ongoing professional development.
