TESOL International Association Statement on the Tragedy at Robb Elementary School, Uvalde, Texas, USA

Yesterday, tragedy descended upon Robb Elementary School and the community of Uvalde, Texas, impacting us all. The hearts of TESOL and our members ache with the families, students, teachers, and community members, who now stand in the midst of the unimaginable. Sympathy and words seem inadequate at such times. 

Schools should be a haven of trust and safety for our children and our educators, the bedrock of our communities and cultures. We stand together and are committed to that bedrock, supporting educators and their students and families throughout the world. 

As we grieve for those impacted and retraumatized by this and similar incidents, we encourage our members to pause in reflection and to seek support and resources for themselves and their students.
