Learn how to utilize technology and collaborative practices to enhance classroom teaching and promote student engagement. Explore how these technology-enhanced collaborative practices promote language learning in ways that individualized activities simply can’t, and discover the benefits of incorporating technology-enhanced collaborative projects and activities into the classroom. Also gain insight on how to adapt conventional practices to make them more collaborative and interactive. Develop an understanding of how all students can be better prepared to participate in collaborative practices and how to address concerns associated with collaborative practices such as assessment, ownership, and equity. Finally, learn skills for identifying those technologies that are most useful and appropriate for your students and goals.

About The Presenter

Greg Kessler is Director of the Language Resource Center and Associate Professor of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) at Ohio University. He teaches CALL teacher preparation and research methods courses. He has been an ESL teacher and TESOL teacher trainer for over 20 years. He was the CALL IS chair for TESOL International Association 2003–2004 and president of Ohio TESOL  2007–2008. He co-authored the TESOL Technology Standards Framework as well as the full volume, TESOL Technology Standards: Description, Implementation,Integration. He is currently president of the Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium (CALICO) and editor of the Action Research Column for the journal Language Learning & Technology. He has published and spoken widely on the topic of CALL and has conducted CALL teacher preparation programs around the world.
