TESOL International Association recently joined
Arizona TESOL (AZTESOL) in a letter addressed to the
Arizona State Board of Education, supporting new college- and career-readiness indicators that would require students to have two years of foreign language instruction. Citing the numerous cognitive benefits of speaking a second language, both TESOL and AZTESOL advised the
A-F School Accountability Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to include foreign or second language high school course work or demonstrated proficiency as an indicator of college- and career-readiness.
