TESOL Joins Over 40 Education Organizations in Call for Increased English Learner Funding

by David Cutler | 04/29/2020
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic impact to public K-12 schools in the United States, TESOL International Association joined over 40 education organizations in a call for $1 billion in supplemental Title III funding.

Part of the Every Student Succeeds Act, Title III is the main federal funding source for English learners (ELs) in public K-12 schools. The additional funding that TESOL and other organizations are requesting would help address many of the noticeable issues that have arisen during the pandemic, including: improving access to online learning for ELs, supporting digital EL instruction, and increasing mental health services.

TESOL looks forward to continuing its advocacy work on the behalf of its members, and will continue to push for increased Title III funding so that all ELs are served equitably.
