TESOL International Association Recognizes 2022 Award Recipients

Every year, TESOL International Association (TESOL) offers more than 80 awards through its Awards, Honors, and Grants Program. Over 100 TESOL members volunteer to support these awards by reviewing applications.

TESOL is pleased to recognize the following recipients for their service to the association and/or to the field of English language teaching. Several recipients will be acknowledged during the virtual TESOL 2022 International Convention & English Language Expo, March 22-25, 2022.

We are pleased to announce the 2022 award recipients.
The TESOL Award for Distinguished Research: Yuliya Ardasheva, Washington State University, Wash., USA, and Amy C. Crosson, Pennsylvania State University, Pa., USA

The D. Scott Enright TESOL Interest Section Service Award: Kevin Knight, Kanda University of International Studies, Japan

The Mary Finocchiaro Award for Excellence in Unpublished Pedagogical Materials: Amy Sherman, Arlington Public Schools, Va., USA 

The Ron Chang Lee Award for Excellence in Classroom Technology
     o Heather Austin, Izmir University of Economics, Turkey 
     o Thinh Nguyen, Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam
     o Nadezhda Pirogova, ITMO University, Russia 

The Ruth Crymes TESOL Fellowship for Graduate Study: Xiaomeng Li, Carnegie Mellon University, Pa., USA

The TESOL Virginia French Allen Award for Scholarship and Service: Susan Gaer, CATESOL, USA

TESOL previously announced the 2022 recipients of the James E. Alatis Award for Service to TESOL, Andy Curtis, and TESOL Teacher of the Year Award, Meg Eubank.

Additionally, TESOL awards grants and scholarships to help TESOL members attend the annual TESOL International Convention & English Language Expo. More than 20 individuals received grants and scholarships in 2022. Sponsors of these awards include National Geographic Learning, Betty Azar, the Meral Güceri Family, ETS/TOEFL, East Carolina University, and the English Language Institute, University of Pittsburgh
