Expertise Needed
Not all Task Force members will have expertise in all areas, but all areas should be represented by some Task Force members.
- Knowledge of TESOL systems and processes
- Member leader perspectives
- Former Board perspectives
- Knowledge and experience with issues of diversity and inclusion/diversity training
- Personal knowledge and perspectives as members of underrepresented and/or marginalized groups
- Demonstrated ability to listen to and acknowledge different viewpoints
- Demonstrated ability to discuss difficult issues and different perspectives in a respectful way
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate systems
Proposed Timeline
The Task Force should deliver an initial progress report for the October 2019 Board meeting and an update for the Executive Committee by the January 2020 online meeting. They should deliver preliminary findings, including a vision statement, for Board discussion at the Denver Convention in March 2020, with a possible session at the TESOL 2020 International Convention in Denver, Colorado, USA. The Task Force should issue regular updates to the membership during the process. The final report, with mechanisms and recommendations, should be submitted in September 2020 for the Board’s consideration at its meeting in October 2020.
