TESOL International Association and Microsoft Partner to Improve Educational Outcomes for Multilingual Learners of English
Alexandria, Va. (June 12, 2023) – TESOL International Association (TESOL) and Microsoft announced a new partnership to improve educational outcomes for multilingual learners of English (MLEs) through the use of Microsoft’s Learning Accelerators, a new category of free educational tools.
With more than 1.5 billion MLEs worldwide, the need for effective and accessible educational resources is more critical than ever. This partnership brings together TESOL’s expertise in English language education and Microsoft’s innovative technology to support English language educators globally as they work to help MLEs achieve their full potential.
As part of the partnership, TESOL and Microsoft have collaborated to create the Guide to Using Microsoft Learning Accelerators With Multilingual Learners of English: Literacy Edition. This guide provides educators with inspiration and practical tips on how to use the free Learning Accelerators – specifically Immersive Reader, Reading Progress, and Reading Coach – to support MLEs in vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, accuracy, and fluency. These tools enable teachers to create interactive and engaging lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners, including MLEs.
