AAAL and TESOL Joint Statement on Conferences

by Juliet Mason, Head of Operations |

Why are AAAL’s & TESOL’s conferences in different cities in 2024 and 2025?

Some members are asking why the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) and TESOL International Association (TESOL) conferences are in different cities in 2024 and 2025. We value the advantages for our members when we are in the same location, and we share a desire to co-locate when we can. Occasionally, circumstances (e.g., COVID-19), logistics, or other critical considerations impacting the respective organization make that impossible.

In 2024 and 2025, our events are in different cities because of contractual obligations from previous years:

AAAL

Houston, Texas (16-19 March 2024)
Denver, Colorado (22-25 March 2025)

TESOL

Tampa, Florida (20–23 March 2024)
Long Beach, California (18–21 March 2025)

In 2023, AAAL and TESOL look forward to seeing you in Portland, Oregon for the AAAL Annual Conference (18-21 March) and the TESOL International Association Convention and English Language Expo (21-24 March).
