TESOL Joins 97 Organizations to Advance the Biliteracy Educational Seal and Teaching (BEST) Act

TESOL has signed, along with 97 educational, state, and regional organizations and associations, a statement of supportby the Joint National Committee for Languages seeking inclusion of the Biliteracy Educational Seal and Teaching (BEST) Act in the FY23 National Defense Authorization Act.

BEST will establish state grants for equitable program development and implementation of the Seal of Biliteracy, which 49 states have adopted. As well, BEST specifically highlights programs that support native languages and English learners. Through BEST more students will gain access to bilingual programs, leading to the Seal and expanded opportunities.
