Graffiti Wall

by Nancy Hahn |

An area of the room covered with black paper can create interest, develop writing skills, and look fantastic! This area provides a new and interesting way for students to write their best examples of specific skills.

Resource Type: Teaching Tips

Audience: Secondary

Audience Language Proficiency: Beginner

Objective:

n.a.

Outcome:

I covered an unused corner of my classroom by stapling up floor-to-ceiling black paper. When students asked what it was, I told them it was a graffiti wall. Of course, they wanted to write on it!

I told them if they wrote a great example of today’s lesson in their notebooks, they could use colored chalk to write it on the wall. They will write and rewrite to have a chance to write on the wall. Students are willing to check spelling, watch capitalization, and master the sentence structure or writing skill of the day. We love it!
