Teaching SUBJECT and OBJECT QUESTION Forms
A video on how to present Subject and Object Question Forms to students.
Start with some example questions and have see if students can:
- identify the components of different question forms
- distinguish between object and subject questions
This can be done through guided discovery, as in this video.
Once you explain the difference between Object Questions and Subject Questions (namely that they are determined by the expected answers), consider the two question types separately, as they are rather different.
Object Questions are formatted the same as Yes/No Questions, except with a question word added at the beginning.
Subject Questions are formatted the same as declarative sentences, except that the subject is replaced with a question word.
Watch this 7-minute video for details and a model of how to present these question forms.
