An intro to the "why" behind UDL — how it removes barriers instead of retrofitting accommodations after the fact. Teachers will leave with a simple framework for spotting barriers in their own lessons and a starter checklist for auditing one upcoming lesson through a UDL lens.

Melissa Sanjeh is dedicated to transforming education so every learner can succeed. As the senior director of professional learning and implementation, she leads the team that empowers educators, leaders, and coaches—locally and globally—to apply the Universal Design for Learning Framework to build inclusive, equitable learning environments.
Melissa brings her experience as a teacher, licensed social worker, school leader and school designer to the work. She has spent much of her career refining personalized instruction, shifting to competency-based models, building trauma-informed school environments, implementing social and emotional learning, and instituting restorative justice practices for service to off-track youth. She believes strongly education and has passion for working with students for whom the traditional system did not work. When not working Melissa enjoys traveling, musical theater and spending time with her seven nieces and nephews.

Gracie Allely taught K-12 ESL internationally for twelve years. She completed her master's degree in English language learning and her doctorate of education at the University of North Dakota (UND). Allely is an experienced teacher educator, program developer, and curriculum designer. She has extensive experience working with grants and co-developed a teacher training program for public school English teachers in Ecuador. As the TESOL director of professional development, Allely manages TESOL’s professional learning offerings, as well as develops new courses. |
