Call for Volunteers: TESOL Conferences Professional Council

The Conferences Professional Council is currently seeking four new members. Appointments will be for two years beginning in April 2019. To be eligible, you must be a member of TESOL International Association in good standing. The deadline to apply is 21 January 2019.

About the Conferences Professional Council

The Conferences Professional Council shall ensure that the content and program of TESOL International Association regional conferences and the Annual Convention are focused on current issues that impact the field of English language teaching, are responsive to the diverse needs of members and the TESOL field, and are aligned with the strategic direction of the association. The Council achieves this purpose by collaborating with staff and the Board of Directors in setting the overall goals for each regional conference and the Annual Convention, and providing advice and guidance as needed.

Experience Sought

  • Planning local, regional or international conferences
  • Reviewing conference proposals
  • Experience with the TESOL International Convention and/or regional conferences

Commitment

The time commitment is roughly 8-10 hours a month. Additional responsibilities include
  • Attend ​both the 2020 and 2021 TESOL International Convention, and participate in the council meeting prior to the start of each
  • Participate in 4-5 conference calls per year
  • Be active on council community platform and other collaboration sites like Google Docs
  • Respond to emails
